At the 5th Annual STARs Awards, held last week, the East Midlands Conference Centre's Jack Scavetta was highly commended for the ‘Most Promising Trainee' award.

The awards, now in their 5th consecutive year, highlight the leading talent in Nottinghamshire's tourism, culture, leisure and hospitality industries and were attended by over 300 people in a glittering ceremony at the Crowne Plaza.

Jack, who has been working at the East Midlands Conference Centre since 2007 is now studying at New College Nottingham to achieve NVQ Level 1 and 2 in Professional Cookery. He is hoping to follow in the footsteps of colleagues who have since gained permanent roles in the EMCC kitchens following their trainee roles. His long term goals are to be involved in a banqueting kitchen, in the production of high-quality cuisine.

Jack said "I am delighted to have been shortlisted for this award and to have achieved this recognition. I was really happy to have been nominated and have always had great support from all the team at the EMCC"

Sheran Beasley, Food Production Manager at the East Midlands Conference Centre said "I'm delighted that Jack has scooped this prize. It's certainly well deserved for the commitment and flexibility that he has shown. He is really highly regarded by the whole team and we are hoping that he continues his career with us once he has completed his studies."
