School Children Visit EMCC to Celebrate Logo Win...
Following a competition to design a logo to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the East Midlands Conference Centre, 135 pupils from Dovecote Primary, Whitegate Primary and Milford Primary schools in Clifton, Nottingham will be attending a presentation on Tuesday 25th May to find out who is the winner.
In January, the year 5 children aged 9-11 were given a basic introduction to branding and helped by the marketing team at Nottingham Conferences, who set the brief for the project. They then completed their designs in groups and submitted their entries before the deadline at the end of April.
The presentation on 25th May will be held in the East Midlands Conference Centre and will give the children the chance to view all of the entries and hear the judges' feedback on the winning design.
The winning team will also have the chance to see their design transformed in a design studio and will see it used on promotional materials on the run up to the official anniversary date in November 2010.
Leading the project, Kirstie Danzey Marketing Manager for Nottingham Conferences explains; "The East Midlands Conference Centre has played host to a number of events in 25 years, with all profits going back into the University, as well as bringing a significant direct economic benefit into Nottingham. We felt that the competition would be a great way of celebrating this and further engaging with the local community. The judging panel were delighted with the number of entries and the quality of the designs produced and we are all looking forward to announcing the winners"
Since opening on 11 November 1985, the EMCC has welcomed over 2 million delegates, staff have collectively served over three and a half million cups of tea and coffee and over 250,000 bottles of wine. Over the years, the East Midlands Conference Centre has played host to many high profile events, including a local business forum featuring Lord Alan Sugar, as well as numerous sporting celebrities such as the World Cup-winning rugby team.
