Nottingham Conferences urges local venues to commit to Olympic Charter...
Nottingham Conferences has called for local venues to align themselves with the opportunities presented by the Olympic Games, by committing to the Olympic 2012 Fair Pricing and Practice Charter (FPPC).
Created by Visit London and VisitBritain with the support of Olympic organisers LOCOG, the FPPC maintains that signatories agree to sustain their pricing at both a fair and reasonable level during the period of the Games, avoiding the price hikes which have affected previous host cities.
Nottingham Conferences became the first Nottingham based business to sign up to the Charter back in May 2009.
Urging other venues to follow suit, Kirstie Danzey Marketing Manager of Nottingham Conferences said; "Nottingham is really holding its own as one of the key conference and events destinations within the UK and continental Europe. Although inevitably, most of the focus will be on London during 2012, there will be an influx of people looking for destinations to hold their conferences and events away from the hustle and bustle of the Capital and this provides the perfect opportunity to showcase Nottingham and the East Midlands as an attractive destination."
She continued; "By committing to the FPPC and putting other strategies in place to target this business, the city can become part of the legacy that the Olympic Games will create. This also means gaining its share of the £1.5 billion the Games are expected to bring to the business tourism industry and the potential to keep these events in the city for many years to come."
