Pupils get creative to help celebrate EMCC birthday celebrations...
Pupils from Dovecote Primary, Whitegate Primary and Milford Primary schools have been asked to help design a birthday logo for the East Midlands Conference Centre to celebrate its 25th year anniversary in November.
Nottingham Conferences' marketing team will give the Year 5 children (aged 9-11) a basic introduction to branding and help them to transform their hand drawn designs into electronic versions using IT. The children will then be invited to a presentation at the EMCC in June where they will be able to view all of the entries and hear the judges' feedback on the winning design.
Later at the end of the year, the children will be invited back again to help arrange the EMCC's celebratory event as well as to work alongside the events and operational teams to help deliver the service to key clients on the day.
Leading the project, Kirstie Danzey marketing manager for Nottingham Conferences explained; ‘The East Midlands Conference Centre has played host to a number of events in 25 years, with all profits going back into the University, as well as bringing a significant direct economic benefit into Nottingham. We felt that the competition would be a great way of celebrating this and further engaging with the local community.'
Since opening on 11 November 1985, the EMCC has welcomed over 2 million delegates through its doors and played host to many high profile guests, including Lord Alan Sugar and numerous sporting celebrities such as the World Cup winning rugby team.
Nottingham as a city currently stands sixth in terms of the UK business destinations voted for by conference and event's organisers. As part of its ‘Destination Nottingham' campaign, Nottingham Conferences is working alongside Experience Nottinghamshire, The Nottingham Arena and Nottingham Hoteliers Association to raise the profile of Nottingham as a key destination for holding meetings and events.
